Bach and Google Inspire Young Composers
A Contest to Inspire You!
We at Inspire Music Academy are excited to share with our students an opportunity to compose an original melody and use artificial intelligence to harmonize it in the style of Bach!
In March, Google celebrated Johann Sebastian Bach’s 334th birthday by making their first AI (artificial intelligence) powered Doodle. The Doodle is an interactive game powered by artificial intelligence that encourages players to compose a two measure melody of their choice. With the press of a button, the Doodle then uses machine learning to harmonize the custom melody into Bach’s signature music style!
How It Works
To try your hand at composing with Google’s assistance, simply go to the Celebrating Johann Sebastian Bach Doodle.
Click on the animated doodle at the top to activate the doodle. Watch the brief instructions, then enter your two measure melody. (This can be a little tricky, but it won’t take long to get the hang of it.)
How to Enter our Contest
Once you’ve finished creating your two measure melody, click the “Harmonize” button and let Google do its magic. When the harmonization it complete, share your creation with Inspire Music Academy by copying the share link and emailing it to info@inspiremusicacademy.com. Make sure to include your name in the email so we know who our budding composers are!
We will be choose the best doodles and recognize them at the spring recital in June. Please submit your doodle by May 18th.
